Charles J. Smith, age 92 of Bremen, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 in a local health facility. He was born in Carroll County, June 4, 1927, son of the late John Smith and Myrl Otwell Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Bremen First Baptist Church, a retired employee of Sewell Manufacturing Company and a retired veteran of the U. S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willene Thompson Smith; a daughter, Linda Gray and a sister, Lillie Priest. Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth Whitman of Carrollton and Evelyn Merritt; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Michael Redding of Temple. Torey and Steve Hulsey of Bremen and one great granddaughter, Cecile Redding of Temple. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Services will be Thursday, January 2. at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Brother Herman Parker officiating. Music will be furnished by Cloma Chandler.
