Emma Lee Powell Merrell of Old Jacksonville Road, Buchanan, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 in a local hospital. She was born in Carroll County, May 2, 1925, daughter of the late Oliver Powell and Lemma McCoy Powell. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Crawford Chapel United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Buford Merrell, Sr.; sisters, Irma Glen and Eula Powell Dobbs; brothers, Euris Powell, Knewt Powell, William Powell, Dalton Powell and Cuella Powell. Survivors include children; Buford and Ruthie Merrell, Sr., Villa Rica, Alfonsa Merrell of Cedartown, Wylle Jean Merrell, Buchanan, Jackie E. Merrell, Buchanan, Sandra and Rodney Freeland, Buchanan, Jesse Merrell of Rome, Angie and Andy McCoy, Dallas, Martha Ann Merrell, Dallas, Ricky and Diane Merrell of Bremen; sister, Lucy Mae Terry of Atlanta; special friends, Phillis Copeland, Clyde Holloman, Dr. Dennis Morin, Tanner Hospice, United Home Care Home Nurse, Inc. and Haralson County Superior Court. Services will be Friday, November 26 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Rev. E. Bernard Campbell and Pastor Felix Moten officiating. Music will be furnished by the Word of Truth Church Praise Team and Pastor Stanley Freeland. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Nieces and granddaughters will serve as flower attendants. Interment will follow in Bremen City Cemetery.
