Enola Gober Henson, age 78, long-time resident of Grace Assisted Living in Douglasville, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was born on October 25, 1942 in East Point, Georgia, daughter of the late Walter Gober and the late Mary Elizabeth Blake Gober. She graduated from Russell High School in 1960 and retired from Georgia State Department of Revenue where she worked as a Number and Batch Clerk for 31 years. Enola attended New River Community Church prior to moving to Grace and then attended services there.
She loved collecting beads, working crossword puzzles and word searches and writing poetry. Enola loved reading, especially the Bible, and watching CBN and The 700 Club. She loved watching Atlanta Braves Baseball and was excited to attend her first game several years ago while on an outing with other Grace residents. She was known as the Resident Ambassador (A.K.A., Mayor) of Grace Assisted Living!
She is survived by her "adopted" children: Kim and Steve Obermeyer; April Acklin and Christian Hiers; and grandchildren; CJ, Sara, and Elijah Obermeyer, who affectionately called her Granola.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; David Lee Henson; and her grandmother who raised her; Karry Blake.
There will be a graveside service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 16, at 3:00 PM with Chaplain Johnnie Porter, Master of Divinity, officiating.
