: James Marvin Hale, Jr., age 80 of Buchanan, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at his home. He was born August 6, 1943, in Maryville, Tennessee, son of the late James Marvin Hale, Sr. and Ruth Gentry Hale. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Hale; and son Doug Barclay.

James worked as a transmission mechanic for forty-one years working and retiring from Harp Transmission Service. He also served our country in the Air National Guard for thirty-two years. In his spare time, he loved scuba diving and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Survivors include his life partner, Joyce Weatherby; children, Joe Barclay of Pahrump, Nevada, Christy and Scott Fortes of Talking Rock, Georgia, and Tom and Celeste Barclay of Winston, Georgia; brothers, John Marshall and Judy Hale of Alcoa, Tennessee and Earnest Paul Hale of Athens, Alabama; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from noon-2:00 pm at Hightower Funeral Home.

Services will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Kendrick officiating. Tom Barclay, Paul Holder, Gary Zimmerman, Sam Conners, Allen Johnson and Barry Walker will serve as Pallbearers. Chris Mays and Tommy Barclay will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Final resting place will be at Georgia National Cemetery.
