John Stanley Davis, Sr., 66, of Douglasville passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 22, 1944 to Homer and Ira Prater Davis. He was a self-employed carpenter and owner of a construction business. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ginny Davis, and sister, Jewell Howell. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John Davis, Jr. and Barbara Davis of Douglasville; sisters, Eileen Brown of Smyrna, Gayle Little; brother, Steve Bo Davis of Mableton; granddaughters, Kayla and Brittany Davis of Douglasville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm from Hightower's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bill Shattles officiating. Interment will follow in Mozley Memorial Gardens, Lithia Springs, Georgia. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 6, 2011, from 1:00 until 5:00 pm, Monday, March 7, 2011, from 3:00 until 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 12:00 until the service hour.
