John W.
Wynens Sr.
Feb 18, 1933 — Jan 25, 2024
John W. Wynens Sr., age 90, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on January 25, 2024. He was born on February 18, 1933, in Tyus. He was the son of the late George Wynens and Ruby Smith Wynens.
John enjoyed the simple things in life and took pleasure in his immediate surroundings. When he woke up in the morning, he looked forward to his breakfast, a sausage biscuit with egg and cheese accompanied by the largest cup of coffee he could find. After breakfast, you might find him in the yard cutting the grass, where he took pride in the freshly cut rows. After the lawn was manicured to his satisfaction, he would head inside for a crunchy salty treat – he loved junk food!
John also loved a good bargain. He would ask for a discount on almost anything and loved the back-and-forth of trying to outwit or outlast someone, whether he was buying or selling. To John, the full price was just a suggestion.
His greatest joy, however, was being around and taking care of people. John served his country in the United States Army and was a Barber for over 35 years. In his career, he enjoyed getting to talk to all of his customers, hear their stories, and make sure they felt well taken care of. This kind of attention also extended to his family and friends. At the end of his life, John kept repeating how much he truly "loved everybody." He made a big impression during his life, and he will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Skinner Wynens; sisters, Marilyn Keaton and Carolyn Sanderson; and brother, Marvin Wynens.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, John "Wesley" Wynens Jr., Chris & Anne Wynens, and Maria Wynens, and granddaughters, Kallie Wynens and Graysen Wynens.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate John's life on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Pastor Caryl Strange officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 PM until the hour of service.
