Larry Lincoln McDowell, 86, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 20, 1938, in Hurricane, West Virginia, the son of the late Drannan Lincoln McDowell and Emma Bird McDowell.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, dedicating himself to his duties with honor and commitment. After completing his service, he transitioned into a fulfilling career as a Maintenance Technician at Sony, where he worked for over twenty years. Throughout his tenure at Sony, Larry honed his technical skills and developed a reputation for reliability and expertise in maintaining complex equipment.

Upon retiring, Larry embraced his passion for a simpler, more grounded lifestyle. He found joy in tending to his chickens, nurturing them with care, and enjoying the fresh eggs they provided. His love for the outdoors was evident in his thriving garden, where he cultivated a variety of vegetables and flowers, providing both beauty and sustenance. Additionally, Larry spent countless hours engaging in woodworking, creating beautiful handcrafted items that reflected his creativity and attention to detail. These hobbies brought him immense satisfaction and allowed him to share his talents with family and friends.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sue Moses McDowell; children, Michael McDowell, Judith Lacy, Gary McDowell, Bryan & Christina McDowell, Beth McDowell Born, Lora & Monty Neese, and James & Connie Johnson; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery McDowell, and brother, William McDowell.

A graveside service will honor and celebrate Larry's life on Tuesday, November 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM from Carroll Memory Gardens, with Minister Marcus Lucas officiating.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Agape Hospice Care, located at 126 W Montgomery St, Villa Rica, GA 30180. These contributions will support the compassionate care and services provided to individuals and families during difficult times. Thank you for honoring Larry's memory in this meaningful way.
