Mary June Leatherwood Thigpen, age 57, of Douglasville passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011. She was born in Cedartown, Georgia on March 12, 1954 to Preston and Valeria Worthy Leatherwood. She was a Christian by faith and worked at the Berry College Post Office and also in the retail setting. She is survived by her husband, Rick Thigpen of Kissimmee, Florida; parents, Preston Wallace and Valeria Worthy Leatherwood of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Faye and Brian Corn of Cedartown; daughters, Janice Michelle Thigpen of Mableton and Chrystal Marie and Sam Pierce, of Douglasville; brothers, Wallace Leatherwood of Lanett, AL, and Johnny Leatherwood of Lithia Springs; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Collins and husband, Rusty, Summer Bryant, Dakota Thigpen, Brian Corn, Jr., Maryleigh Thigpen and Ansley Thigpen; two great-grandchildren, Kaylen Pierce and Audrey Collins. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 16, 2011at 3:00 pm from Hightower's Memorial Chapel with Reverend Billy Wayne Waldrop officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 4:30 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
