Mr. O. D. "Mac" McCollum, age 81, or Franklin, Georgia passed away on Friday evening, February 7, 2014. He was born April 7, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of the late Otha Doyle McCollum, Sr. and the late Jana Eddis Whiten McCollum. Mr. McCollum was a United States Air Force Veteran; was retired from Allstate Insurance with thirty-three years of service; and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alice Crenshaw McCollum of Franklin; children: Brad & Deanna McCollum of Birmingham, AL, Tamie & Billy Nelson of Destin, FL, Chris & Tammy Mims of Franklin, GA, Cyndy & Jim Radford of Suches, GA, Kathy Barnes of Austell, GA, Diane Young of Florence, AL and Becky & Gary Dailey of Tupelo, MS; sister, Mary Register of Daytona, FL; nephew and niece, David & Patti Register of Daytona, FL; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 10, 2014 from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Bro. David Ayers officiating. In accordance with the family's wishes, the body will be cremated following the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
