Royce Johnson, age 80 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023. He was born on May 22, 1943 in Millers Creek, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Junior and Jim; and two sisters: Ruth and Ruby.

Royce is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson; his siblings: Clayton (Pat) Eller, and Geraldine (David) Hancock; two daughters: Vicki (Kevin) Strickland and Courtney (Karl) Jensen; step-children: Mick (Lori) Haydin, Doug (Polly) Haydin, John (Lori) Haydin and Susan Sewell. Royce and Betty have 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Royce served his country as a medic in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and has lived in the West Georgia area for many years. He worked as a respiratory therapist at Kennestone Hospital, Tanner Medical Center, and Smyrna Hospital. After retiring from the medical field, he explored many interests: gardening, taking day trips, working at Home Depot, and walking his beloved Golden Retriever, Hank. Real Estate was another path he pursued for ten years, working mostly in Douglas and Carroll counties.

Royce truly loved his family and showed that love well. He and his wife, Betty, spent all their time together enjoying life. He had a passion for singing and playing his guitar. Everyone that knew him could not deny he enjoyed talking with people. He never met a stranger, everyone was a friend, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Day officiating. Eulogies will be rendered by Tom Stough, Suzanne Sleight, Marcus Johnson, and Jeff Clason.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
