Sheila Lynn Shumate, age 67, of Chamblee, passed away, July 7, 2014. She was born April 30, 1947 to the late Arthur Manus Shumate and the late Jessie Kate Shumate Allen. She was a hairdresser for many years and had numerous faithful customers. She was Pentecostal by faith. She will be remembered for having spread the Word of God through a Prison Ministry for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Gordon Evans, sisters: Jacquelin Shumate, Jeanette Peeks; brothers: Sammy Shumate, Thomas Shumate, James Shumate and Kenyon Shumate. Survivors are her sister and brother-in-law: Brenda Allene Ray and George Ray of Winston; special friend, Terry Jamison; several nieces, nephews, friends and customers. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 1:00 PM from Hightower's Memorial Chapel, Douglasville, with Bro. Bobby Cheek officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM in the Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, Covington, GA. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, Friday, July 11, 2014 from 2-4PM and Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM.
