Velma Irene Ward Boatright of Bremen, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Carroll County, April 13, 1916, daughter of the late Elige Ward and Parthenia Capes Ward. Mrs. Boatright was a thirty-plus year retiree of Sewell Manufacturing Company and a member of Abilene Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noble Boatright; a grandson, Chad Robinson; a sister, Maggie Boyd; brothers, Reese Ward, Jim Ward, Waymon Ward and Thomas Ward. Survivors include children, Patricia and Frank Griffin, Bremen, Donna Moore, Bremen, Sheree and Mike McGuire of Cumming, Terri Ward of Bremen; grandchildren, Marisa and Gary Medlin, Jonathan and Jennifer Grimes, Libby Grimes, Bonnie Robinson; great grandchildren, Kayleigh Medlin and Dylan Robinson. Services will be Sunday, March 4 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Haney officiating. Music will be furnished by Bonnie Robinson. Jimmy Horsley, Butch Truitt, Gary Medlin, Jonathan Grimes, Kyle Garrett and Steve Brown will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Abilene Church Cemetery.
