Obituary

Virginia Lee Rowe FNP, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on January 31, 1945, in Ft. Riley, Kansas, to the late Jimmy Pierce and Frankie Gann Pierce. Virginia lived a life adorned with compassion, love, and a spirit dedicated to serving others.

Virginia's journey began in the heart of Georgia, where she developed a passion for helping people. She pursued higher education at Georgia State and became a Nurse Practitioner, a role that allowed her to touch countless lives during her years of service at West Georgia Family Medicine. Beyond the walls of her workplace, Virginia extended her healing hands as a Missionary Nurse and a founder of Carroll County Hospice. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was the guiding light of her life, nurturing her unwavering commitment to family and community.

Virginia leaves behind her cherished husband, Thomas "Hamp" Rowe, with whom she shared a profound love. She is also survived by her beloved children: daughter Anita D'Angelo; son Thomas Rowe Jr. and daughter-in-law Carey Roberts-Rowe; and daughter Tina Edwards and son-in-law Christopher Edwards; and sister, Dorothy "Anne" Pierce. Virginia's legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Jimmy Tetterton, Chase Haley, Spense James Rowe, Charlee Grace Rowe, Lauran Marlow, Nathan Marlow, Emmett Marlow, and Jake Edwards, along with her adoring great-grandchildren, Hope, Peyton, and Reagan Tetterton.

In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kristy Lee Sexton, and her sister, Margaret "Jane" Pierce.

In a reflection of her life filled with warmth and grace, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church. She will lie in state from 12:30 PM until the service, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life. Rev. Mike Harris will officiate the service, guiding all in remembrance of Virginia's enduring spirit. Honoring her memory, pallbearers will include Chris Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Jimmy Tetterton, Emmett Marlow, Chase Haley, and Nathan Marlow. Following the service, Virginia will be laid to rest in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, a place where her spirit will forever remain among loved ones.

The family will extend their heartfelt invitation to receive friends and loved ones at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM—an opportunity for all to share stories, laughter, and tears as they honor a life well-lived.
