Mrs. Allene H. "Miss Allene" Starnes, age 67, of Manor Way, Carrollton, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Starnes was born January 26, 1940 in Cobb County, Ga., to the late Bernice P. Gantt Harris and Arthur Harris, Sr . Miss Allene was a retired preschool teacher having worked for a number of years in The Tabernacle Baptist Church Preschool where she was also an active member and prior to that with Carrollton First United Methodist Church Kindergarten. Before starting her family and moving to Carrollton, she worked for Ginn Publishing in Atlanta, Ga. Survivors include her husband, R. Emory Starnes; son & daughter, Christopher " Chris" Starnes of Duluth, Ga., Pamela "Pam" Shadrick of Ft. Pierce, FL.; and a brother , A.O. Harris, Jr. Of Hahira, GA; also a grand son, Logan Davis Shadrick of Ft. Pierce, FL. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 3 PM from Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Gentry and Dr. J.Howard Cobble officiating. With eulogies by Mrs. Karen Vance and Mrs. Scottie Jennings. Pall bearers will be Jimmy Shadinger, Richard Hendrix, Roger Duggins, Jim Blevins, Milton Poteet, Dan Phillips and Wayne Lee. Honorary Pall bearers will be The Mike Dunn Sunday School Class and The Scottie Jennings Bible Class. Interment will follow on Wednesday in Georgia Memorial Park.
