Obituary

Lynn Manning Free of Carrollton entered the presence of her Lord, June 20, 2026, after an extended battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Lynn was born to Dallas Ward and Virginia Loftis Manning on May 2, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia. She grew up in Virginia with her family making several moves between the Tidewater area and Richmond.

In 1969, she enrolled in Atlanta Christian College (now Point University), where she met Dennis Free. They were married in 1970, after which she joined him in his ministry at the Whitesburg (Georgia) Christian Church, where they served until moving to the nation of Indonesia in 1975 to advance the spread of the Gospel. They served together in Java, Sulawesi and the Malukuan Islands of Indonesia full time until 2019. Lynn's roles were primarily in teaching young children, ladies, and students at the Bible college that began in her village home. She was always a mentor and an encourager of others in service to her Lord and a faithful prayer warrior.

Her parents, and one sister, Katherine Collins, preceded her in death. In addition to her husband, Dennis, a sister, Lorie Morrison (Steve) of Bonita Springs, Florida; children Brian and Jackie Free of Lebanon, Tennessee and Bethany and Janes Nanulaitta of Ambon, Indonesia along with cherished grandchildren survive to thank God for her life.

She cherished her six natural grandchildren: Melati and Isabella Free; Kiera, Bianca, Graciella and Jayden Nanulaitta, along with loved foster grandchildren: Juliana, Talita, and Roberto. She had a special bond with many children of coworkers and friends in Indonesia to whom she was Nenek or Oma.

An informal service in worship of the Lord with gratitude for his work in and through Lynn will be held at the Whitesburg Christian Church on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 4 PM.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Java Evangelism, PO Box 215, Bremen, Georgia to further the educational ministry continuing her devotion to the transformation of hearts and lives of Indonesian children.

Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Free family.
