Alvis Carlton Manning, age 97, of Buchanan, passed away on December 26, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on January 17, 1927, the son of the late Justin D. Manning and Mary Ellen Poff Manning. He worked for Eastern Airlines as a customer service supervisor for 37 years and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and then the First Baptist Church of Buchanan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Hazel and Gladys, and a grandson, Chris Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Hedrick Manning; his children, Rob Manning (Lisa) of Dallas and Anita Race (Ronnie) of Buchanan; a brother, James Manning of Roanoke, Virginia; grandchildren, Ronda Waters, Davin Manning, and Tiffany Gentry; six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with Chaplain George Nix officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
