Obituary

Angela Gayle Folds Spencer, 46, of Stillwater, Oklahoma died on September 18, 2011 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on September 22, 2011 Tabernacle Baptist Church, 150 Tabernacle Dr., Carrollton, Ga. with Jay Sutton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in West Ga. Memorial Park. She was born on March 4, 1965 on McDill Air Force Base in Tampa Florida to Donald O. Folds and Glynda Cole Folds. She attended the University of West Georgia where she earned degrees in English and French. She married Glenn Spencer on June 26, 1993 in Carrollton, Georgia. Angela was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother and friend who lived selflessly and fully. Her life was marked by her love for her family and her faith in Christ. Angela was married to her friend and confidant, Glenn, for 18 years. She encouraged and supported him in his coaching career and also taught high school English early in their marriage. She and Glenn gave birth to Luke Gaston Spencer in 1995 and to their second son, Abraham Folds Spencer in 1998. After living most of her life close to family in the Southeast, the Spencer family moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2008 when Glenn joined the Oklahoma State coaching staff. Angela's selfless devotion to anyone or anything in need of love and compassion began in early childhood. She loved animals and often made a home for them wherever she could. Her childhood home was filled with many people and animals that needed a place to call home and to be loved. Angela lived with limitless compassion and love. She selflessly shared what she had to help others. As a mother, she passed that compassion onto her children. Angela developed and struggled with heart disease for many years. In February of 2010, she received a heart transplant in an effort to live as long as she could with the loves of her life-her husband, sons, and family. Angela was a living testament to the encouragement of people everywhere to be organ donors. Angela took advantage of every minute she had by encouraging her boys to be loving, strong Christian leaders. Her life was a testament of her faith, compassion, and love. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Gaston and Montez Peters, Annie Kate Spencer, Gilbert and Eva Cole, Odie and Mary Folds, and brother in law, Guy Spencer. She is survived by her parents, her husband, and her two sons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Angela's honor to Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute, Integris Baptist Medical Center 3300 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112. Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater, OK., and Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton, Ga. have charge of the arrangements.
