Mrs. Anna Catherine (Katie) Schmidt, age 85, of Carrollton, Ga., passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012. She was born March 6, 1926 in Miami, FL., the daughter of the late William Gautier and Martha Elizabeth Peek Gautier. Mrs. Schmidt married Eric Louis Schmidt on November 22, 1948 in Homestead, FL., where they lived for most of their married life. Eric was a pole bean farmer for 45 years and Katie kept the books for the farm and managed the office. They were members of Redland Community Church in FL., and then First Presbyterian Church of Villa Rica. After they retired 20 years ago, they came to Carrollton, Ga., to live for part of each year. Carrollton became there permanent home 5 years ago. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Louis Herbert Schmidt. Survivors include her children and spouses, Bill & Teri Schmidt of Coral Springs, FL., and Catherine & Jackie Reed of Carrollton; brother and sister in law, Jack & Xiomara Gautier of Princeton, FL.; grandchildren, Sarah Schmidt, Will Schmidt, Katie & Richard Ashlock, Eric Reed and Jonathan Reed; great grandchildren, Aaron Ashlock and Allie Ashlock; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 1 PM from First Presbyterian Church of Villa Rica with Rev. Chad Sadorf and Rev. Todd Allen officiating. Interment will follow in West Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
