Auguste Birchmont "A.B." Zimmermann, Jr., age 76 of Winston passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. He was born on August 10, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of the late Auguste B. Zimmermann, Sr. and the late Inez Brady Zimmermann. A.B. was the owner and operator of Zimmermann Contracting, LLC.  He was a hard worker and well respected and liked by his employees and clients.  A.B. was devoted to sports, especially to the New Orleans Saints as he watched them every Sunday and was a season ticket holder for their inaugural season.  He was also a fan of the LSU Tigers and Atlanta Braves, many times watching games while he cooked in his favorite place, his kitchen.  His passion for cooking began when he owned his own restaurant in Louisiana.  He brought his passion home, as he often cooked wonderful meals for family and friends, especially on holidays.  A.B. also had a love for music and dancing.  He served in the National Guard and attended Crossroads Church in Douglasville, GA.  A.B. is survived by his wife of 19 years, Merry Cagle of Winston; daughters and sons-in-law: Heather and Timothy Gianndrea of Covington, LA, Gretl and Corey Class of Cody, WY, Kelley and Joey Velazquez of Forsyth County, GA, and Michelle and Larry Ruble of Winston; son and daughter-in-law: Peter Quinten and Sini Cagle of Nokia, Finland; sister and brother-in-law: Alyson and Tim DeFisher; brother: Dean Zimmermann; twelve grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated, and a private Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, July 26th at 2:00 pm.
