Barbara Jean Sass, age 66, of Tallapoosa, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026. She was born on November 14, 1959, in Troy, New York, to the late Walter Henry Sass Sr. and Winifred Lorraine Hathaway Sass.

Barbara was a caring and compassionate woman who dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse at Hallmark Nursing Home, where she lovingly cared for patients day in and day out. More recently, Barbara enjoyed working at the Wooden Bean in Bremen, where she became a familiar and beloved face to many.

Barbara was also active with FOP Lodge #35, particularly enjoying her time working bingo nights at AmVets Post 99. She loved being involved with her community and spending time with the people around her.

Barbara is survived by her son, Joshua Sass; sisters, Nancy Robinson, Carol Ditter, Kathy Newkirk, Joann Hawver, and Georgann Bruns; brother, William D. Sass; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, David Sass, and Walter Sass Jr.; and sisters, Betty Lewis and Martha Sass.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Hightower Funeral Home Chapel.

A celebration of Barbara's life will immediately follow at 4:30 p.m. at the Wooden Bean in Bremen.

Barbara will be remembered for her caring heart, her dedication to helping others, and the kindness she showed to those fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
