Obituary

Barry Lee Frye, age 76, passed away peacefully February 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of joy and laughter. He was born September 7, 1948, in Bluefield, Virginia, to the late Warren Lee Frye and the late Mildred Huffman Wilburn. Barry was a man who truly lived life to the fullest. Affectionately known as Fryebaby or Big Barry, he had a passion for music and golf, loved cheering on the Dawgs, spending time with friends, and never missed an opportunity to soak up the sun, especially on his boats throughout the years.

Barry was the life of the party, always ready to dance and bring smiles to those around him. His infectious energy and love for life were evident in everything he did.

In the early 1970s, Barry moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he played the trumpet professionally in a soul band The Redcoats, but always treasured his Bluefield roots. His love for music was a significant part of his life, and he enjoyed sharing his talent with others. He held a successful career in automotive aftermarket parts sales, where his love for people helped him develop strong ties with his customers, many of whom became dear friends.

More than anything else, Barry treasured his beloved wife of 41 years, the late Karen Fekete Frye who greeted him in Heaven and those who called him Dad and Papa. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He also adored his golden retrievers, who were his faithful companions and best friends.

Barry's vibrant spirit and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Barry was a member of Christ the King Anglican Church before moving to Dallas, Ga. with his daughter and son-in-law, where he regularly attended NorthStar Church in Kennesaw, Georgia.

He is survived by his daughter Jordan Ashley Frye Davis and husband Michael (his in-law suite roommate); grandchildren: Harper Emily Greene, Maddie Jimerson Davis, Harper Lamar Davis; son Brett Taylor Frye and wife Chelsea; grandchildren: Cole Hudson Frye, Carter James Cook; brother-in-law: Greg Dorris; nephew: Luke Kendall Dorris; nieces: Amanda Ryan Dorris and Courtland Olivia Dorris.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Barry's favorite charity St. Jude Children's Hospital. Barry is also resting easy with a smile on his face because he won the under bet of living to 80.

In true Frye fashion and to honor Barry's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held when the days get longer and the weather warmer. Cheers Daddy!
