Betty Lawler Pendley, age 89, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on June 1, 2026. She was born in Douglasville, Georgia on July 30, 1936, daughter of the late Price E. Lawler and the late Fannie Mae Teal Lawler.

She is survived by her daughter: Jackie Pendley; grandchildren: Jennifer Toney and Jordan Pendley; son-in-law: Shannon Toney; sisters: Ann Smith and her husband Charles; sister-in-law: Virginia Lawler and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack B. Pendley; daughter: Lisa Pendley Toney; brothers: Ralph Lawler and Ennis Lawler; sister and brother-in-law: Linda and Danny Grubb.

Betty Mae Pendley was one of a kind—a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, caring sister, and faithful friend whose life was defined by her unwavering love for others. She passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

For 70 wonderful years, Betty shared a remarkable marriage with the love of her life, Jack Pendley. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, hard work, and countless memories. From racing cars and spending weekends at the lake to operating several businesses side by side, Betty and Jack embraced every chapter of life together with determination, laughter, and love.

Born as the second child and oldest daughter in a family of five children, Betty was a caring and dependable sister who remained a source of support and encouragement throughout her life. Family was always at the center of everything she did.

Betty was a proud mother to her two daughters, Lisa and Jackie, whom she loved beyond measure. She could often be found cheering from the sidelines as they participated in various sports, with a special fondness for softball. Her support never wavered, and she took great joy in celebrating the accomplishments of those she loved.

Over the years, her family grew to include a son-in-law, Shannon, who became much more than family by marriage. For more than 40 years, Shannon was the son she never had. Their bond was built on love, respect, laughter, and countless shared memories. Betty welcomed him into her heart from the very beginning, and he remained a beloved and treasured part of her life. The relationship they shared was a testament to Betty's ability to love deeply and make people feel like family.

Of all her roles in life, being "Mawmaw" brought her some of her greatest joy. Her grandchildren, Jennifer and Jordan, were the light of her life. She shared a special bond with each of them and took every opportunity to spoil them, encourage them, and create memories they will treasure forever. Few things made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow into the people she was so proud of.

Betty shared a special bond with her niece, Gina, whom she helped raise and loved as one of her own. Their bond reflected a lifelong connection built on care, guidance, and enduring family love.

Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, Betty had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and love—a gathering place where family and friends always knew they belonged. Whether offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or a warm meal, Betty showed up for others time and time again.

In her last six months, as Betty faced health challenges, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Jackie, granddaughter Jennifer, niece Gina, and son-in-law Shannon and friend Phyliss. Together, they made sure she was surrounded by comfort, support, and constant presence, reflecting the same deep love and devotion Betty had always given so freely to her family.

Betty's life was a beautiful example of selfless love, steadfast loyalty, and genuine kindness. She leaves behind a family who adored her and countless friends who were blessed by her presence. While she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her love was constant, her door was always open, and her impact on those around her will never be forgotten.
