Billy Robert Shadrix, age 85 of Carrollton, passed away March 4, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born May 19, 1934 in Carrollton, Georgia, son of the late Robert Lee Shadrix and Marie Sharp Shadrix. He was a Mt. Zion High School graduate and proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. He retired from Georgia Power after having worked 31 years as a lineman. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Billy Jiles; and two sisters, Rudein Windom and Katherine Burkhart. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Nelson Shadrix of Carrollton; his children, Steven Shadrix, Rod (Tammy) Shadrix, and Holly Jiles; and grandchildren, Matthew Jiles (MacKenzie), Haleigh Harris (Andrew), and Taylor Shadrix (Hannah); and great grandchildren, Reese Shadrix and Rett Shadrix. Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Sam Braswell, Ken Moody, and Matthew Jiles officiating. Interment will follow in Abilene Baptist Church cemetery with Phil Cantrell, David Windom, Nelson Dean, Taylor Shadrix, Andrew Harris, Matthew Jiles, Rick Jiles, and Terry Jackson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Moody, Larry Windom, Henry Horton, and the Georgia Power Ambassadors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
