Obituary

Billy Braswell White, age 96, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, October 5, 2026. Born on December 15, 1929, in Decatur, Georgia, he was the son of the late Leonard Flournoy White and Rubye Adele Braswell White.

Billy lived a life marked by faith, dedication, and a genuine desire to serve others. He spent 26 years at Genuine Parts Company in the automotive parts industry, building a career in sales. Throughout his life, he valued hard work, meaningful relationships, and the simple joys of time spent with family and friends.

A devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Billy's faith was central to his life and shaped how he treated others. He faithfully volunteered at the church and served his community through the local soup kitchen. Whether lending a helping hand or offering his time to someone in need, Billy understood that some of life's greatest blessings come from serving others. His quiet acts of kindness and willingness to give of himself reflected the values he held dear.

Billy also had a lifelong love of golf. As a member of the West Georgia Senior Golf Association, he spent countless hours on the course, where friendships and fellowship were as meaningful as the game itself. Golf gave him a chance to enjoy the outdoors, share friendly competition, and spend time with friends who shared his passion for the sport.

Above all, Billy treasured his family. He shared many years of marriage with his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Ferrell White, whom he married on November 24, 1956. He took great pride in his son and grandchildren, and his love for his family remained one of the greatest joys of his life. Billy will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous spirit, love of fellowship, and the meaningful ways he touched the lives of those around him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Ferrell White; his brother, Donald White; his sister, Elizabeth Patrick; and his brother-in-law, J.B. Bryant.

He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Brad and Tina White of Carrollton; his grandchildren, Taylor White, Hailey White, and Jordan White, all of Carrollton; his sister, Winifred Bryant of Oxford, Georgia; and other extended family members and friends, whom he leaves to cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 12:30 PM in the chapel of Tabernacle Baptist Church, with Dr. Stephen Allen officiating and Dr. Brad White sharing a eulogy.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, before the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice in Billy's memory, continuing his legacy of generosity and service to others.

Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at www.martin-hightower.com . Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the White family.
