Bobby E.
Dyer
Jul 5, 1944 — Oct 8, 2026
Bobby E. Dyer, age 82, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Born on July 5, 1944, in Carrollton, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charles Dewey Dyer and Mary Catherine Gray Dyer.
A lifelong Carroll County resident, Bobby graduated from Central High School in 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, including service with the 13th Naval Construction Regiment in Da Nang, Vietnam. His honorable military service earned him the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Fleet Marine Combat Insignia. Bobby carried a deep appreciation for his fellow veterans throughout his life and remained actively involved in the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and AMVETS organizations. Alongside his good friend Glenn Pruitt, he helped lead both organizations for several years, giving his time and efforts to the veterans and friendships that meant so much to him.
Bobby was a familiar face in the Carrollton business community as the longtime owner of Bobby's Marine & Camping Center, which he operated until his retirement in 2018. His business was a natural extension of the things he loved most, and through the years, he built countless friendships with customers and fellow outdoor enthusiasts who shared his passion for life on the water and in the great outdoors.
An avid outdoorsman, Bobby was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, camping, or boating. Whether deer hunting, duck hunting, pursuing pheasants, or enjoying a day on the water, he appreciated every opportunity to be outside. He especially enjoyed taking his boat out to the ocean, always ready for another adventure. For Bobby, the outdoors offered more than recreation; it was a place to make memories, enjoy good company, and share stories with the people around him.
Just as important to Bobby as his many interests were the friendships he made along the way. He genuinely enjoyed spending time with his friends, whether gathered at the veterans' clubs, sharing stories from years gone by, or enjoying an outing together. His love of fellowship and the many friendships he maintained were central to his life.
Bobby was a charter member of Roopville Road Baptist Church, where his connection to the congregation began in its earliest days. His longtime membership reflected the importance of faith, family, and community in his life. As one of the church's charter members, Bobby shared in the history and growth of a congregation that has been a meaningful part of the Carroll County community for many years.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his second wife, Jane L. Dyer, and his brother and sister-in-law, Buford and Corene Dyer.
He leaves behind his son, Chris Dyer, and his significant other, Lisa Wallis; his grandsons, Rick Dyer and his wife, Shaie, and Jack Dyer, and their mother, Michelle Dyer; and his first wife and the mother of his son, Rachel Cook Noles. He is also survived by Jane's children and their families, Tina and Keith Lovvorn, and their children, Madison Lovvorn and Lacie Morris and her husband, Stuart; and Shane and Ami Williams, and their children, Austin Williams and his wife, Tori, and Landon Williams and his wife, Mary-Kate. Also surviving is his niece, Joan Bush, and her husband, Greg.
Bobby will be remembered for his proud service to his country, his years as a local businessman, his love of the outdoors, and the many friendships he treasured throughout his life. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the friendships formed, and the countless days spent enjoying life's simple pleasures.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Carroll Memory Gardens, with Rev. Steve Swafford officiating.
