Bonnie Lou
Eide
Aug 21, 1948 — Apr 14, 2026
Bonnie was born August 21, 1948, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Ward and Ruth (Finlay) Wallace. Her preschool years were spent in Grand Forks, Fargo and Morehead, Minnesota. The family later moved to Mankato, Minnesota, where she attended Wilson Campus School, graduating in 1966. She attended Mankato State College and graduated in 1970 with a degree in elementary education.
In 1968, Bonnie married Dennis Eide in Mankato and moved with him to Anderson, Indiana, where Dennis graduated from Anderson College. She supported her husband as he attended and graduated from seminary in Chicago. Together, they served churches in Russell, Minnesota; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lennox, South Dakota; Forreston, Illinois; and Mobile, Alabama. At first, Bonnie struggled with the idea of being a pastor's wife, but she never hesitated to serve. She taught Sunday school, women's Bible studies, and ESL classes. She also sang solos, led children's choirs, served in church kitchens, and opened the Eide home on many occasions.
Bonnie was more than a pastor's wife, she was also a gifted teacher. She taught fifth grade in Chicago, biology and chemistry in Russell, preschool in Lennox, and worked as a substitute teacher in several places. Bonnie was also a precision crafter. She sewed clothes and craft items, and worked for a picture framer. Later, she owned and operated her own frame shop for several years in Canton, South Dakota. She also became a quilter and worked in quilt shops.
Bonnie was a vivacious person who loved to laugh and had the ability to laugh at herself. She loved people, and they were drawn to her openness and joy in life. She did not like change and loved her home, but she was always ready to move and support her husband in his ministry, even though this meant leaving a life she enjoyed and embracing the unknown.
Bonnie was a woman of faith. She loved the Word of God and, for many years, read through the entire Bible each year. She also loved the Valley of Vision with its Puritan prayers and read one or more each night. The Heidelberg Catechism, Question 1, was very special to her, and she had recently memorized it. She desired to grow in the Lord and prayed that God would show her the sins in her life. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and his great love for her.
Bonnie found great joy in her family. She loved them all and prayed for each one daily.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 57 years and her children and grandchildren; Matthew and Sara Eide (Pueblo West, CO) and their children, Emma, Isaac, Beth and Amos; Aaron and Kimberly Eide (Atlanta, GA) and their children Cam'Ron, Elijah and Miles; and Careth and Bill Turner (Manassas, VA) and their children Lincoln, Oliver and Aria. She is also survived by one sister, Debbie Cioletti, who lives in Manassas, VA. Bonnie was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Brown, and her parents, Ward and Ruth Wallace.
