Brenda Ann Mathews, born on August 29, 1956, in Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Dallas, Georgia. She was 69 years old.

Brenda spent her early years in the close-knit community of Medulla, Florida. Known for her bright smile and joyful spirit, she found lasting friendships and fulfillment through her participation in the local bowling league. Her connection to the sport deepened when she later worked at the bowling alley, becoming a familiar and cherished presence in the community.

During these formative years, Brenda met Jessie Porter Mathews. Their bond grew into a devoted marriage that spanned 50 years. Together they built a loving home and raised three sons: Luke Mathews, their firstborn; Justin Porter Mathews, who arrived sixteen years later; and Chris Hunt, whom they lovingly adopted later in life.

Brenda embraced motherhood with unwavering dedication. She was a nurturing presence who took pride in supporting her children through every stage of life. Her love for animals and commitment to family came together as she worked alongside her sons at the family pet salon. In addition to her work outside the home, Brenda was a full-time housewife who created a warm and welcoming household.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Cardin and Don Cardin and her brother, Donnie Cardin.

Brenda's memory lives on through her husband, Jessie; Brother Eddie Cardin and her sons Luke Mathews, Justin Mathews, and Chris Hunt; and all those who were touched by her kindness and warmth.

A traditional funeral service will be held in Bremen, Georgia. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Hightower Funeral Home, 318 Gordon St.
