Burl E. Sanders of Bremen passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 in a local health facility. He was born in Bremen, September 17, 1929, son of the late Jessie J. Sanders and Mattie Loue Hobbs Sanders. Mr. Sanders retired from Liberty National Insurance Company as a salesman. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Era Pearl Bryant Sanders; four sisters, Nettie Lee Hogan, Sally Miller, Bernice Agan and Cora Blackmon and six brothers, Robert "Bob" Sanders, Bill Sanders, Clifford Sanders, Jack Sanders, Grady Sanders and Pink Sanders. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Harlan Ward of Bremen, a grandson, Chad Lee of Bremen and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Services will be held Sunday, September 8 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Dr. J. Howard Mills officiating. Perry Smith, Steve Sanders, Mark Robinson, Joey Entrekin, Larry Hogan and Tommy Ward will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
