Clarence "Sonny" Esker Kirkland of Tallapoosa passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 in a local hospital. He was born in Albany, November 8, 1947, son of the late Merle Esker Kirkland and Myrtle Weems Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland was a Baptist by Faith and a retired truck driver. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Wages Kirkland of Tallapoosa; a daughter, Jeanie McGinnis of Albany;a son, Kenny Griffin of Tallapoosa; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a sister, Liz Pellham of Albany and two brothers, John Kirkland of Florida and Gary Kirkland of Albany The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.. Services will be Thursday, January 31 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Brother Homer Wysner officiating. Interment will follow in New Plainview Baptist Church Cemetery.
