Obituary

Connie Lynne Griffin, a vibrant 59-year-old resident of Tallapoosa, Georgia, took her final bow on Monday, January 20, 2025. Born on May 25, 1965, in Huntsville, Alabama, Connie filled her life with love, laughter, and countless unforgettable moments.

As a remarkable individual living with Down syndrome, Connie's spirit radiated joy and kindness. She had an endearing tradition of collecting greeting cards, and her face would light up with excitement whenever friends and family delivered them during their visits. Connie had a special affinity for her beloved baby dolls, with her Frozen characters holding a particularly cherished place in her heart. It was not uncommon to find her singing the lyrics of "Let It Go" while cradling her Elsa and Anna dolls, her voice echoing the happiness she felt.

Connie was rarely seen without a pen in her hand, often found scribbling down notes and thoughts that reflected her unique perspective on the world. Her warmth and positivity left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered, making her a beloved source of love and light in the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her treasured "Maw," Dura Doss, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond, as well as her aunts, Frances Yancey "Sissy" and Mary Driver "Honey," who each played an important role in her life.

Connie's memory will be cherished by her devoted "BeBe" and longtime caregiver, Brenda Martin; her supportive caregiver, Denise McClure; her caring guardian, Linda & Darian Thompson; her special cousins, Elaine Heifner and Teresa Greenwood; her dear friend, Timmy; and the compassionate staff and individuals at Highland Rivers Behavioral Health, all of whom were touched by her beautiful spirit.

A funeral service will honor and celebrate Connie's life on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Brother Matthew Browning officiating. Connie will be laid to rest beside her Maw in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Kenneth Heifner, Bill Greenwood, John Greenwood, Darian Thompson, and Randall Yancey.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from noon until the hour of service.
