Mr. Cyrus Lawrance Thorne, age 68, of Ranburne, Alabama, passed away on May 21, 2026, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. Born on February 24, 1958, he grew up in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Cyrus Lawrance Thorne Sr. and Patricia Thorne.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Cyrus dedicated many years of his life to working as a transmission associate with Honda for seventeen years.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Cyrus enjoyed the simple things in life, especially fishing and hunting. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love for the outdoors, and the deep love he had for his family.

He is survived by his best friend of 36 years and loving wife, Donna Sue Scott Thorne; his children, Christina & Paul Quinlan, Joseph Thorne Sr., and Amber Christine Dollar; his sister, Lesley Thorne; his brother, Shawn Thorne; and five grandchildren, Alison Benefield, Joseph William Thorne Jr., Jarah Grace Thorne, Alaina Adreana Moreno, and Henry James Shaw. He is also survived by several beloved great-grandchildren, including Oaklyn Garza, Delaney Garza, and Baylee Thorton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Thorne, and his sister, Paula Thorne.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Holloway officiating. Interment will follow at Whitesburg City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour.
