Obituary

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dante Romearo Smith, born on June 10, 1997, in St. Paul, Minnesota, who left us unexpectedly on July 8, 2025, in Lamar County, Georgia. Dante's journey in this world was marked by both challenges and remarkable gifts. He navigated life with Asperger's, finding solace in the beauty of music and the complexities of electronics.

Dante was a quiet young man whose profound musical talent shone brightly. He possessed the rare ability to play any instrument he touched by ear, filling the lives of those around him with the sounds of the piano, guitar, and saxophone. His passion for music was a testament to his creativity and spirit, and he will be remembered for the melodies he brought to life.

Though Dante struggled with employment, his talents were manifold. His adeptness with electronics showcased his sharp mind and keen insight. He found joy in the details that many might overlook, reminding us all of the beauty in the simple things.

Dante is survived by his beloved grandfather, Rodney Smith Sr., his devoted father, Rodney Smith Jr., and his cherished brother, Montgomery Hayes. Each of these family members held a special place in his heart, and their love for him was unwavering.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gail Loftin Smith.

A viewing will be held at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

A funeral service will be held to honor Dante's memory on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Pastor Shane Dawson officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Carroll Memory Gardens. Louie Reganos, Bryce Haney, Caleb Parmer, Jacob Phillips, Jerry Evans and Travis Deason will serve as pallbearers.

As we come together to celebrate his life, let us remember Dante not just for his struggles, but for the joy he brought into our lives through his music. May his spirit continue to resonate in the notes he played and the memories he leaves behind.
