David "Larry"
Pendley
Dec 26, 1950 — May 25, 2026
David "Larry" Pendley, age 75, of Winston, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026. Born in Tate, GA, Larry lived in Austell, Georgia, during his formative years, graduating from Pebblebrook High School in 1968, and settled in Winston, GA, with his young wife (Betty Roberts) in the early seventies. Having traveled as far as I-20 would take them, they enjoyed life "out in the country" for as long as they could. Together, they raised one daughter, Sandy Pendley Stephens, who resides in Loganville, GA, with her husband, Chad, and their two children, Audrey and Tuck.
An avid outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent much of his time outdoors. He also enjoyed tinkering and was known as a fixer of things. This trait served him well at Square D, where he worked for more than twenty years, and later at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, where he spent an additional twenty years fixing things that needed fixing for the maintenance department.
Tough on the outside, Larry found happiness in his later years with Wendy Melissa Cantrell, whom he wed almost ten years ago. He was stubborn until the end, but those close to him know he was a teddy bear on the inside, sharing hugs and kisses until the very end.
A lover of canines, he raised a host of dogs during his lifetime, many from the lines of Jesse Jackson Browne, a black lab he surprised Sandy with when she was a teenager. Little Girl Annie and Bubba were two of his favorites, but it is Sofie who is at home, missing her Daddy's voice now.
Larry is survived by his wife, Wendy, and his daughter, Sandy, along with two grandchildren that he adores, as well as a sister, Melissa Hodges Mitcham, and nephew Jon Paul Hodges.
