Obituary

Dennis Michael Bartlett Sr., age 81, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on August 25, 2026. He was born on April 26, 1945, in College Park, Georgia, the son of the late Ray Bartlett and Louise Waller Bartlett.

Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career with Delta Air Lines, where he held a variety of positions over more than 30 years before retiring.

Retirement, however, opened the door to a new chapter that would become especially meaningful to Dennis. He began working as a paraprofessional with special-needs students at Arnco-Sargent Elementary School. What may have started as a retirement job quickly became something he truly loved. His students brought him tremendous joy, and he cared deeply for each of them. The opportunity to work alongside them, encourage them, and be a part of their lives was a source of great happiness and fulfillment for Dennis.

Dennis was also deeply proud of his Native American heritage. He enjoyed honoring and celebrating that heritage through playing Native American drums, an interest that held special meaning for him throughout his life.

Above all, Dennis treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Jo Wilhelm Bartlett; his children, Michael Bartlett and his wife, McKenzie, Amanda Bartlett, Pamela Haynes, Eric Trimble, and Joseph Bartlett; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Melonye and Alan Lowe of Tennessee; his nephew, Jonathan Lowe; and many other great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Dennis will be remembered for his years of service to his country, his dedicated career, the joy he found in working with his students, the pride he took in his heritage, and, most importantly, the love he shared with his family. His life touched many people in many ways, and the memories he leaves behind will continue to be treasured by those who knew and loved him.

In accordance with his wishes, Dennis will be cremated. Service information will be announced as it becomes available.
