Obituary

Nancy Diane Parrish McCrory, age 81, of Bremen, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 26, 1943, in Carroll County, Georgia to the late George Watson Parrish and Rubye Mae Bonner Parrish. Diane attended Frisco City High School in Alabama, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Mobile College in Mobile, Alabama. She taught for 30+ years in public and private schools in Alabama and Georgia, teaching Mathematics and History and tutoring students. Diane was a member of First Baptist Church in Bremen, Georgia where she was saved and baptized in 1951. She was a kindergarten teacher there in the 1970s, as well as a Vacation Bible School volunteer and a Girls in Action leader. Later she was active in FBC Bremen missions, including mission trips to Brazil and Utah. Diane was a die-hard Auburn fan; she loved animals and had both dogs and cats as pets. She also was a huge Elvis and rock-n-roll music fan. She loved the beach and being with family, and she was her kids' biggest fan at sporting events.

Diane was a strong, loving, kind, and giving woman and mother who persevered in life. Her favorite activity was spending time with her children, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all loved and cherished their Mama Mac.

She was preceded in death by her parents George Watson Parrish and Rubye Mae Bonner Parrish. She is survived by her four children: Marcie McCrory Ernst (Mike) of Atlanta, GA, Laura McCrory Horton (Andy) of Bremen, GA, Paula McCrory Windle (Keith) of Birmingham, AL, and Dr. Patrick McCrory (Jackie) of Raleigh, NC; nine grandchildren: Megan Ernst Tipton (Gregory), Erin Ernst, Ashleigh Horton Bridges (Matt), Ben Horton (Andrea), Allison Horton Kelly (Avery), Katie Windle, Anna Windle, Maggie Windle, & Abigail McCrory; and eight great grandchildren.
