Dixie Ann Bailey Hicks, 84, of Wedowee, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1940, in Rockmart, Georgia, the daughter of the late Claude Bailey and Annie Judson Spinks Bailey.

Mrs. Dixie proudly earned both her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Registered Nurse (RN) degrees from Floyd College in Rome, Georgia. Over a dedicated career spanning 30 years, she provided compassionate care to countless patients, ultimately retiring from her position at Pine Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation, where she was deeply respected by both staff and residents.

A devoted member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Wedowee, Alabama, Mrs. Dixie cherished her time at the ladies' luncheons. Known for her quick wit and humor, she brought joy to others with her jokes and was lovingly referred to as "Dixie's Own Darling."

Beyond her church activities, Mrs. Dixie had a strong passion for the Kentucky Derby, reveling in the excitement of the races. She enjoyed exploring thrift stores to find unique treasures and took great pride in her extensive teapot collection, which reflected her love for beautiful and functional art. As a member of the Swagg Homemakers Club in Wedowee, she was an active participant in community events and initiatives.

Mrs. Dixie also had a green thumb and delighted in nurturing her vibrant flower garden, which added to the charm of her home. Every week, she looked forward to Taco Tuesday, a cherished tradition shared with friends and family, where laughter and good food made for memorable gatherings.

She leaves behind a loving family which includes her children, Jennifer & Matthew Fay, Sherrie & Tracy Cox, and Brad & B.J. Hill; grandchildren, Melissa & Eric Wolfe, Matthew & Ashley Smith, Raven & Tyler Scott, Jared Windom, Cade & Aubrey Hill, and Carley Morgan; great-grandchildren, Hannah Gold, Kyler Smith, Korie Smith, Lorelei Wolfe, William Wolfe, Hollis Hill, Marigold "Goldie" Scott, Amelia Hill, and Boone Hill; sister, Bonnie Amidon; and brothers & sisters-in-law, Ronnie & Mandy Bailey, Bill & Glenda Bailey.
