Dolly Matthews Harper, age 87, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025. Dolly passed peacefully in her sleep around midnight. As much as her family wanted to be with her when she went Home, God had other plans and came for her at midnight. The weekend before she died she told each of her family members she loved them. Then she didn't speak again. And so began the long good bye.

She was born in Lincolnton, Georgia on November 29, 1937, daughter of the late Aubry Matthews and the late Ruby McCurry Matthews. Dolly was retired from the Douglas County School System where she worked as a teacher for 30 years.

Dolly is survived by her children: Hal Harper (Pauline), Karen Parmer (Dan); grandchildren: Kelly Harper Moore, Kathryn Parmer Cottle (Chad Cottle), Matthew Scott Parmer (Elizabeth Van Law Parmer), eight great-grandchildren, sister, Cheryl Bentley (W.C. Bentley) brother, Randall Matthews (Maryanne Chastain Matthews).

In addition to her parents, Dolly was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hall Harper, Jr., brothers: Glenn McCurry Matthews, Robert Matthews; sisters: Faye Stubbs, and Ramona Poag.

A celebration of life will be held at Hightower's Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Family will receive visitors at 10:00 am on that same day.
