Doris Virginia Crook Ploof, age 80, of Bremen passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011. She was born in Calhoun County, Alabama, April 30, 1931, daughter of the late George Crook and Hattie Moore Crook. Mrs. Crook was a member of the Union Hill United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death brothers, George Crook, Max Crook and a son-in-law, Allen Vaughn. Survivors include husband, Harold Ploof of Bremen; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Mindy Ploof of Rome; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Ed Hammonds, Cedartown, Janice Vaughn, Bremen, Joy and John Bryant of Bowdon; sisters, Joann Roberts, Leesburg, Carolyn Burrows, Piedmont, Alabama, Patsy Gilbert of Decatur; brothers, Jack Crook of LaGrange, Frank Crook of Franklin; (14) grandchildren and (18) great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Services will be Tuesday, July 12 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie Lankford officiating. Music will be furnished by Mark Garner and Connie Brown. Casey Ploof, Steven Bryant, Justin Bryant, Tim Vaughn, Patrick Vaughn, Jason Ploof, Mike Lankford and Eric Barnes will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
