Obituary

Elijah Edison Grant was born on December 16, 2000, and passed away on October 5, 2019. He is survived by his parents, Eddie and Mary Grant; his brothers, Graham and Austin, and his sister Chelsea; his grandparents, Ed and Inge Grant; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. In his short life, he brought joy to those around him and touched their lives in unforgettable ways. Starting at age nine, Eli faced significant challenges as the result of an extended, progressive illness. In his short life, he endured frequent, severe seizures; however, he approached his challenges and embraced his family with love, joy, and strength. He loved sketching and drawing, ventriloquism, walking on the greenbelt with his father, playing checkers and giving hugs. He transformed his family's home into an art museum with eighteen years' worth of his creations. He was content to spend time with the people he loved, and he always made sure that those people knew he loved them. Though we didn't have him with us nearly long enough, we're thankful for every moment we had together with him, for the treasure trove of fond memories he left us, and the knowledge that he's now at rest in heaven with his Creator in his new body with his new mind. Eli drew many pictures of Jesus over the course of his life, and now he has the opportunity to look into the face of his Heavenly Father. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 3:30 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Britt Wiggins and Mr. Eddie Grant officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the hour of service.
