Obituary

Fred Daniel "Danny" Scott, age 75, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Born on May 17, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, Danny lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to his family, and a deep love for the outdoors. He shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Bonita Dale Scott. The two would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary later this month, a testament to a lifetime of love, commitment, and partnership.

Danny was the owner and operator of Danny's Grease Elimination from 1993 until his retirement in 2014. He took great pride in his work and built his business through dedication, honesty, and determination.

Outside of work, Danny's greatest passion was hunting. He loved all types of hunting and had a genuine appreciation for wildlife and the outdoors. Whether he was in the woods, spending time at the range, or sharing stories with friends and family, he was happiest when surrounded by nature. His love for shooting sports led him to serve as a Carroll County 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor, where he enjoyed mentoring young people and helping them develop confidence, discipline, and respect for firearm safety.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Adolph Scott and Mary Margaret Irwin Scott; his brother, Carl Shelton Scott; his sister, Judy Jefferson and Brenda Gail Simpkins.

In addition to his wife, Bonita, he is survived by his children, David Allen Peek and his wife, Sharie, Theresa Yvonne Edgar and her husband, Oscar, Victoria Lee Crawford and her husband Joey, and Scott Keith Chambers; his sister, Tammy Annette Scott; his brother, Eddie Dean Scott and his wife, Kathy; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Peppers officiating. Interment will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens with David Peek, Dayton Peek, Oscar Edgar, Aaron Edgar, Dalton Crawford, and Scott Chambers serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.

Danny will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, hardworking businessman, dedicated mentor, and outdoorsman. Whether he was spending time with family, helping a young shooter improve their skills, or enjoying a day in the woods, he lived life on his own terms and made a lasting impact on those around him. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
