Gladys D. Smith Jarrett, age 79, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026. She was born on November 25, 1946 in Lafayette, Tennessee, daughter of the the late Fred R. Smith. And the late May Whitaker Smith. Gladys worked for Southern Railroad for 17 years and later she worked at Regions Bank for 7 years. Gladys was a member of AMVets Post 118 Women's Auxiliary. She loved fishing, sewing and crafting.

Gladys is survived by her loving husband, Fredrick Dean Jarrett; daughter, Nanci J. Fernandex (Max); grandchildren, Brooke Dobinson (Jeremy), T.C. Carns (Matt); great-grandchildren, Kasen Dobinson, Sawyer Carns.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was also preceded in death by her son, Gardener Dean Jarrett; sister, Charlene Smith.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Hightower's Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Will Adams officiating. Steve Heaton, Jeremy Tingle, Max Fernandex, Will Adams, J.D. McLon, and Dean Petty will be serving as pallbearers.
