Obituary

Gordon "Gordy" Allen Johnson, age 65 of Carrollton, unexpectedly passed away January 20, 2015. He was born May 21, 1949 in Fergus Fall, Minnesota to the late Clarence "Stub" Johnson and Lorraine Boen Johnson. There he grew up on the farm near Star Lake along with his sister and brother. Gordy graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1968 and promptly enlisted into the U.S. Army where he served his county with honor for 6 ½ years with deployments to Korea and Germany. Gordy later found his calling in the construction industry and managed to start his own company, Five Star Fixturing in 1997. His strong company values will be carried out by the employees and friends that he left behind. Mr. Johnson was a patriot. He charitably gave to organizations that supported the community and his country. He was a proud and active member of the AmVets. Gordy was an outdoorsman who found pleasure in hunting, fishing and farming the land. Many summer months were spent in Minnesota sitting behind the wheel of his tractor. He also loved NASCAR, whether in attendance or watching from home. Gordy and Bev loved to travel, taking many vacation trips together and with others. Gordy loved and cherished his family and friends. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his youngest granddaughter, Savannah. To his friends, he was loyal, forgiving, and always generous. The end of a hard day was spent among friends and a good story. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Kempenich Johnson of Carrollton; children, Jeff Johnson of Seattle, WA, Dennis Johnson of CA, Tracie Nutt of Tullahoma, TN, and Georgia Williams of Carrollton; sister Virginia (Dave Stetz) of Barnesville, MN; brother Terry (Judy) Johnson of Dent, MN; and seven grandchildren, Anthony, Brady, Jessika, Timothy, Kelsey, Winter, and Savannah. Music will be rendered by Bryant Turner and pianist, Patty Prichard. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery.
