Homa Martin
Archer
Aug 9, 1928 — Mar 21, 2026
Mrs. Homa Martin Archer, age 97, a lifelong resident of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born on August 9, 1928, to the late Joe R. Martin and Zema Barker Martin, Homa lived a long and faithful life rooted in family, hard work, and quiet devotion to the community she loved.
A graduate of Roopville High School, Homa carried with her the values of a simpler time, dedication, humility, and a steady work ethic that defined much of her life. She spent many years as the bookkeeper for Home Mart Building Supply, where she was known for her reliability and attention to detail. She took pride in her work, just as she did in the way she cared for those around her.
At home, Homa found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved working with her hands, whether creating ceramics, stitching needlepoint, or sitting down with a good crossword puzzle. These quiet hobbies reflected her patient and thoughtful nature, someone who found contentment in the everyday moments.
Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Homa was a lifelong member of Stripling Chapel United Methodist Church and held the distinction of being its longest-tenured member. The church was not just a place she attended, but a cornerstone of her life, where she built lasting relationships and lived out her faith through steady presence and service.
Above all, Homa was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose legacy is carried on through the generations she cherished so deeply. Her home was a place of comfort, and her life was one marked by quiet strength, unwavering love, and a deep sense of responsibility to those she held dear.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy C. Archer; her son, John B. Archer; her sister, Mable Martin Craven; and her son-in-law, Joey P. Simpson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Archer Henson and her husband, Warren Henson; her son, James Roy Archer and his wife, Lynn Chambers Archer; her grandchildren, Jay & Amy Denney and James & Kathy Denney; and her great-grandchildren, Jesse Denney Wheeler (Ethan), Ally Denney Dedman (Nicholas), Jami Denney, Joey Denney (Ashten), and Luke Denney. She also leaves behind her great-great-grandchildren, Aubree Jay Wheeler and Marlee Rae Wheeler; step-grandchildren, Sherry Roberts (Chris) and Brian Holcombe; step great-grandchildren, Derrick George, Madison Roberts, Nicholas Holcombe (Shealyn), Lakyn Holcombe, and Lane Holcombe; and a special friend, Maria Fisher.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Rev. Tac Coley and Rev. Julie Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens, with James Denney, Ethan Wheeler, Joey Denney, Jay Denney, Nicholas Dedman, and Luke Denney serving as pallbearers.
Flowers are welcome; however, those wishing to honor Homa's memory may also make donations to the Backpack Ministry at Stripling Chapel United Methodist Church, 1830 Hwy 27 South, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
