Jack Powell Blackmon of Bremen passed away at his residence Thursday, August 21, 2014 following a brief illness. He was born in Carroll County, September 7, 1947, son of the late George Byron Blackmon, Sr. and Nellie Gertrude Powell Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon was a retired employee of Southwire Company, where he was a supervisor. He was a faithful member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Ruth Kirk and a brother, George B. Blackmon, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Patricia 'Patti' Richmond Blackmon of Bremen; children, Tammy and Paul Mazurkiewicz of Lawrenceville, Michelle and Bart Doss of Bremen, George and Amanda Blackmon of Farmington, MO, Traci and Larry Bradley of Bowdon; sisters, Syble Weaver, Corinth Community, Reba Brown of Bremen; brothers, Jimmy and Syble Blackmon of Carrollton, Harold and Pat Blackmon of Tallapoosa; grandchildren, Cassie and Andrew Corbitt, Lucas Braclley, Katie Bradley, Blake Doss, Brody Doss, Catherine Mazurkiewicz, Amanda Mazurkiewicz, Brock Blackmon, Cade Blackmon and Little Jack Blackmon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4:00 until 9:00 PM. Services will be Saturday, August 23 at 2:00 PM from the Fellowship Baptist Church with Brother Eddie Davidson and Brother Merle Barron officiating. Music will be furnished by Michael Brown and Labron Cason. Blake Doss, Brody Doss, Andrew Corbitt, Cliff Brown, Randy Blackmon and Jason Blackmon will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Fellowship church cementery.
