Obituary

James Venson "Vince" Bailey passed away leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. Born on May 29, 1930, in Randolph County, Alabama, he was the son of Lloyd and Maudie Bailey.

Growing up on a family farm, Vince learned the value of hard work at an early age, helping his parents tend the crops and care for the land. Those lessons shaped the character that would define his life. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Korean War, a chapter of his life he carried with great pride.

Vince and the love of his life, Betty, shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Together they owned and operated Aladdin Cleaners in Marietta, Georgia, where they built not only a successful business but lasting friendships throughout the community. After retiring from the cleaners, Vince continued working alongside Betty at Bailey's Alterations. Even in retirement, he remained committed to serving others, working as a bailiff for the Cobb County and Carroll County court systems for more than 20 years.

Service to others was woven into the fabric of Vince's life. For several years, he volunteered at Tanner Hospital, where he enjoyed assisting patients and escorting them to their cars upon discharge. He never met a stranger and was always ready with a smile, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement. Whether through his work, volunteer service, church involvement, or daily interactions, Vince touched countless lives through his kindness and generosity.

A dedicated community servant, Vince was a longtime member of the Piedmont Lions Club in Marietta and a proud member of American Legion Post 160 in Smyrna and American Legion Post 143 in Carrollton for more than six decades. He believed in giving back and lived a life marked by service to both his country and his community.

Vince enjoyed many things in life, especially a round of golf and cheering on Alabama football. Yet nothing brought him greater joy than his faith and his family. He was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he and Betty worshiped together for many years. They especially treasured their time singing and traveling with the church's Praise Singers Choir, sharing their love of music and fellowship with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Maudie Bailey; his son, James Danny Bailey; his brothers, Alfred Bailey, Jerry Bailey, and Glyrene Bailey; and his sisters, Mavie Dean Bennett, Jean Barnett, and Joyce Hall.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 60 years, Betty Bailey; his daughters, Shayne Hardee (Joey) of Lexington, South Carolina, and Shelia Hurst (John) of Allen, Texas; and a family that brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.

Vince was a beloved Papa who adored his grandchildren: Missy Chisenhall (Matt), Danielle Miller (Jeremy), Jamey Bailey (Shawn), Sean Anderson (Meghan), Alesha Nystuen, Kristopher Anderson (Nicole), Matthew Hurst, Cameron Hurst, Sara-Grace Hurst, Wessli-Ann Singleton (Zack), and Alyx Hardee.

He was also blessed with great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Ethan, Aiden, and Lorelai Chisenhall; Verona and Leighton Miller; and Luke Singleton.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nurses of Amedisys who cared for Vince with such compassion and professionalism over the years. They are especially thankful for his devoted caregivers, Randi, Coco, Linda, Dee and Tara, whose kindness, friendship, and unwavering support brought comfort, dignity, and joy to Vince and peace of mind to those who loved him. Their loving care will never be forgotten.

Vince will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his dedication to family, his service to his country and community, and the kindness and integrity he showed to everyone he met. He lived a life well spent—one marked by love, humility, and devotion. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory and example will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

The family will receive friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the church chapel with Dr. Stephen Allen officiating. Cameron Bailey Hurst, Mr. Bailey's grandson, will deliver the eulogy. Music will be provided by Mark Barnes and Dawn Cagasan. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Hurst, Cameron Hurst, James Bailey, Matt Chisenhall, Sean Anderson, and Khristopher Anderson. Members of Mrs. Linda Haney's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Interment will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23.
