James G. 'Jim' Cash, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Haralson County, February 7, 1931, son of the late Chet Cash and Arretta Smith Cash. Mr. Cash was a pharmacist, who owned and operated the Jim Cash Pharmacy in Buchanan. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Buchanan and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lavonne Cash; a sister, Laura Jo Wright and a brother, D. W. 'Dan' Wright. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Holcombe Cash of Buchanan; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and David Robertson of Tallapoosa; a granddaughter, Leah Robertson of Tallapoosa and a sister Sadie Ann Simpson of Bremen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, September 22nd from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Services will be Monday, September 23 at 2:00 PM from The First Baptist Church of Buchanan with Dr. Allen Wilburn officiating. Music will be furnished by Gary Singleton, Jason Singleton, Leah Robertson, Katie Jennings, Paul Calhoun and Martha Hardin. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jason Singleton, Gary Singleton, Charles Simpkins, Stevie Holcombe, Jackie Holcombe, Donnie Rainey, Johnny Williams and Paul Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers will be Coy Cash, Max Smith, Silas Brown, Larry Cash, Cohen Cash, Greg Abbott, Alona Shepperd, Jeanette Payne, Joy Poteet, Phyllis Southerlin and all former employees. Interment will follow in Buchanan City Cemetery.
