James
Justice
Mar 5, 1944 — May 30, 2026
James Justice, age 82, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on May 30, 2026.
Born on March 5, 1944, in Carrollton, Georgia, James was the son of the late John L. Justice and Bertha Elaine Burch Justice. He attended Central High School and answered the call to serve his country at just 17 years old, joining the United States Navy. He faithfully served during the Vietnam War, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and patriotism throughout his life.
Following his military service, James continued serving others as a Georgia State Trooper, dedicating ten years to law enforcement. After sustaining an injury in the line of duty, he embarked on a new chapter, becoming a chiropractor and operating his own practice for approximately a decade. Never one to shy away from hard work, he later spent more than twenty-five years as an independent truck driver, traveling the highways and building a reputation for dependability and determination.
James possessed a naturally curious mind and a remarkable ability to solve problems. He loved tinkering with things, always working on a project, improving a design, or figuring out a better way to make something work. In many ways, he was an inventor at heart, never content to leave things exactly as he found them. Whether in his workshop, garage, or simply thinking through a challenge, he enjoyed the process of creating and improving.
While James was often a quiet and independent man who preferred a simple life, his family was always the center of his world. Beneath his reserved nature was a deep love and devotion for those closest to him. The moments he shared with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family were among the greatest blessings of his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia Robinson Justice; his daughters and sons-in-law, Mechilli Elaine Alsup and her husband, Matthew, and Roxanne Marie Baker and her husband, Robert; his grandchildren, Sage Alsup, Autumn Alsup Dietz and her husband, Alec, and Rowan Baker; his brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Barbara Justice; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Benjamin Merrell, and his brothers, Monroe L. "M.L." Justice and Gene Justice.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Matthew Alsup and Rob Baker officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Whooping Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
