Mr. James Frank "Pop" Pollard, Sr. 82 of Laurel Street, Bremen passed away April 17, 2007. Mr. Pollard was born on July 31, 1924 and raised in Bremen, Georgia the son of the late Stacy Walker Pollard. A graduate of Bremen High School, attended West Georgia College and a graduate of University Of Georgia. A Navy Flyer in World War II. A member of First United Methodist Church of Bremen. He served as a Lay Leader in the church for 24 years. A member of Methodist Men, he taught Sunday School for 30 years, served in the past as Chairman of the Administrative Board of the church. He served as a Coordinator of Lay Witness Missions for 21 years and is certified by the Board of Disciples as a Coordinator for the United Methodist Church. He received the Denman Evangelism Award for the North Georgia Conference for 1986. Member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Public address announcer for Bremen High School "Voice of the Blue Devils" for 48 years. Cub Scout Master for 12 years, Little League Manager for 10 years, Midget Football Representative for 5 years. Member of Bremen Board of Education for 14 years. Retired as Vice-President-Operations and Administration for Warren Sewell Clothing Company, Bremen, Georgia on December 31, 1992. Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority, City Of Bremen. Part-time consultant to Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company, Bowdon, Georgia. Married to the former Yvonne Turner of Villa Rica, Georgia and the father of three sons. All three have graduated from Bremen High School. Rick graduated from Georgia Tech and completed a tour in the United States Marines. He and his wife Patti reside in Bremen. Skip graduated from Georgia Tech. He and his wife Carla reside in Bremen. Dave graduated from West Georgia College. He and his wife Beth reside in Bremen. A grandfather to six grandsons, Billy, Casey, Kelley, Bo, Christopher, Patrick and one granddaughter, Paige. He was a half-brother to Mrs. Bobby Babb of Stockbridge and Joe Pollard of Stockbridge. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 2 PM from The First United Methodist Church of Bremen with Reverend Wayne Monroe and Reverend W.G. Henry officiating. Mr. Reese Slaughter, Mr. Duane McManus and Dave Pollard will also be speaking. Music will be furnished by Mrs. Martha Greer, Mrs. Carol Hogan and Jim Winchester. Bill Miller, Bob Walker, Jack Cash, Billy Walker, Don Walker, Jim Jones, E.B. Jones and Charles Turner will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Bremen City Cemetery.
