Jeanette Hicks McDowell of Buchanan passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Haralson County, May 6, 1944, daughter of the late Elbert Wesley Hicks and Melba Bentley Hicks. Ms. McDowell was a retired employee the Ball Company in Tallapoosa and a member of Tallapoosa East Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special friend, Marion Wright. Survivors include children, Brian (Judy) McDowell, Waco, Angie McDowell of Temple, Mitchell (Janet) McDowell, Bremen; sisters and their spouses, Shirley (Edgar) Worthy, Tallapoosa, Edith (Fred) Hunnicutt, Chapin, SC, Jacqueline Roberts of Tallapoosa; a brother and his spouse, David (Phyllis) Hicks, Tallapoosa; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 until 9:00 PM. Services will be Saturday, June 30 at 1:00 PM from the Tallapoosa East Baptist Church with Rev. W. A. Ivie, Dr. Allen Wilburn and Rev. Thomas Ward officiating. Steve Worthy, Phil Worthy, Jonathan Worthy, Jeff King, Mark Hunnicutt, Jason McDowell, Jeff McDowell, Chris McDowell and Rob Newman will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Tallapoosa East Church Cemetery.
