Mr. Jesse Gilbert Payton, age 55, of Roopville Veal Rd. Roopville, Ga., passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at his residence. He was born January 31, 1954 in Heard County, Georgia the son of the late Maxine Payne Woodard and Adrian A. Payton. Mr. Payton was manager for Walker Meats until his illness began and a Methodist by faith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Sam Payton. Survivors include his wife, Annease Brand Payton; sons, Jesse Matt Payton and Josh Lance Payton (Paige Buckner) all of Roopville; sisters and brothers in law, Patricia & Edward Rice of Bowdon and Sharon & Pete Mauldin of Statham, Ga.; brother and sister in law, Darry & Susan Payton of Roopville; also surviving, the pride and joy of his life, his grandson, Case Lance Payton. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2 PM from Veal Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Runels and Rev. Ronnie Eidson officiating and Mr. Tim Eady giving a eulogy. The body will be placed in the church from 1:30 PM until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Bobbie Walker, Kim Bell, Ricky McLendon, Donnie Powers, Gary Mashburn and Jerry Johnston. Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Bell, Jimmy Boatright, Donald Walker, Bob Cat Johnny and David Eady. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
